Academic Enrichment & Program Activities

Activities and opportunities to develop as a professional

Research with a Faculty Mentor

IPREP fellows will participate in "hands-on" research in state-of-the-art biomedical labs with a faculty mentor matched to each fellow’s individual academic background and areas of interest. Each fellow will work under the supervision of the mentor as a member of the laboratory team. Fellows will complete individualized research projects and present the results at local and/or national meetings.

Career Development Opportunities

In addition to their research activities, IPREP fellows will take selected program-specific courses to enhance skills needed for graduate work and will attend workshops in ethics and the responsible conduct of research, scientific presentations and GRE preparation. They will participate in journal club and attend weekly career-development seminars.

Additional Program Activities

IPREP fellows will receive guidance in selecting appropriate Ph.D. programs and preparing graduate school applications. Mock interviews with graduate school admissions personnel will enhance skills necessary to gain entrance to high-quality graduate programs.
